Accelerate to Industry (A2i)

The Accelerate to Industry program was originally developed at North Carolina State University. Through an NSF grant, the program was extended, to involve other universities in the program. Ohio State University was the first of the big ten alliance to be part of this innovative way to help graduate students become industry workforce ready.

The A2i program is designed to meet graduate students’ developmental needs by offering: (a) an Industry Company Site Visit, (b) an Industry Team Practicum, (c) an Industry Internship, (d) Industry Job Search Strategies and (e) an Industry Immersion Week. The goal of graduate students’ participation in the A2i program, is to be:

more aware of industry career opportunities
more understanding of how their skill set applies to industry
able to identify career goals and strategies that they will use to seek industry employment and career advancement

There will be a new summer initiative in 2021, in which the partnership universities will engage in a joint program, bringing industry partners from different parts of the country to meet doctoral students from the partnership universities. This new initiative will give Ohio State University graduate students an opportunity to network with industry on the national and international levels for future job placement.

If you are beginning your industry job search this year or next, we invite you to attend a workshop series hosted by the Graduate School this spring in collaboration with the Alumni Association, Career Counseling and Support Services and two industry partners (BASF and Nestle Inc.)

Are you a master’s or doctoral student ready to start your industry job search?

Prepare for this next chapter of career readiness through training, just as you did when you prepared for the GRE. It will help you be well prepared for the process.

REMEMBER: Knowledge is power.

Learn how to navigate the industry job market and find the industry job that meets your expectations. You might look for an industry that has a purpose-focused mission, as well as prioritizes diversity and inclusion, but also provides for their (present and future) employees:

An empowering passion-linked work culture
Mentorship and meaningful work assignments
Growth-potential and opportunities for promotion
Autonomy and support

If you want to find an industry job, attend our workshop series, Accelerate to Industry: Job Search Strategies. We will have only limited spaces available. Learn from industry and experts in the field about how to prepare for an industry job search. This is a 6-session series. Applicants accepted into the program must make a commitment to attend 80% of the sessions.

You will learn about: internships, career fairs, resume writing and cover letters, Alumni Fire, interviewing, and negotiating your job offer.

This workshop series will be done remotely for easy access. It will start on February 7, 2023, and end on February 23, 2023, with workshops every Tuesday and Thursday (see below).
