Deadlines and Timelines
Application deadlines vary by graduate program.
Most but not all graduate programs admit for the autumn semester, with an expectation that students will be on campus beginning in mid-August.
Most graduate programs make admission and funding decisions between January and March for domestic students and between December and March for international students. In most cases, the Office of Graduate and Professional Admissions and the graduate programs must receive your required admissions materials by January 15 (for domestic students) and by November 30 (for international students).
Application Fee Waivers
Some prospective students are eligible for an application fee waiver.
CIC Fee App Program
The Committee on Institutional Cooperation (CIC), a consortium of the Big 10 institutions and the University of Chicago, accepts applications to cover the cost of applying to graduate school from students who “possess qualities and experiences that enhance the diversity of the intellectual, cultural, and social environments at CIC universities.”
McNair Scholars Fee Waiver
Participants in the McNair Scholars Program, a program designed to increase graduate degree awards for students from underrepresented segments of society, are eligible for application fee waivers. Applicants should note their participation in the McNair program on the Ohio State application. They will then be prompted to request a fee waiver. Applicants should have their McNair or SROP director send confirmation of participation to the Graduate School.
Summer Research Opportunities Program (SROP) Scholars
SROP Scholars are eligible for application fee waivers. Applicants should note their participation in SROP at any CIC institution, including Ohio State's SROP program. They will be prompted to request a fee waiver.
