Details for Summer Enrollment
Enrollment Options/Terminology
- 12 weeks = Summer Term
- 8 weeks = 8-week Session 1 and 8-week Session 2 (two overlapping enrollment periods)
- 6 weeks = 6-week Session 1 and 6-week Session 2
- 4 weeks = 4-week Session 1, 4-week Session 2, and 4-week Session 3
Total summer enrollment is based on the sum of Summer Term, 8-week, 6-week, and 4-week session credits. The credit hours for all 8 enrollment periods will be combined and will appear on the student’s transcript as summer credit hours.
Maximum Enrollment for Summer
- 15 hours = Max for 12-week Summer Term
- 10 hours = Max for each 8-week Session 1 and Session 2
- 7 hours = Max for each 6-week Session 1 and Session 2
- 4 hours = Max for each 4-week Session 1, Session 2, and Session 3
Considerations
- Graduate students enrolled in Summer Term at maximum (15) hours would likely not be approved by the Graduate School for enrollment in any other session options
- It is not recommended (and likely would not be approved by the Graduate School) for graduate students to enroll at maximum hours in both 8-week enrollment periods (8-week Session 1 and 8-week Session 2)
- It is not recommended (and likely would not be approved by the Graduate School) for graduate students to enroll at maximum hours in both an 8-week enrollment period (Session 1 or Session 2) and a 6-week enrollment period (Session 1 or Session 2)
