Julie Schnell, former Graduate School Graduate Assistant Awarded Graduate Student of the Year

The Ohio College of Personnel Association recently awarded their 2024 Robert F. Rogers Graduate Student of the Year award to Julie Schnell. Julie was nominated for the award by colleagues in Leadership and Community Engagement for her work as the Graduate Teaching Associate for Local Service Programs. At the time of the nomination, Julie was unaware that her colleagues had submitted her name which led to a further surprise when she received the award. The award was presented at the OCPA Annual Conference on Monday, February 5, 2024. Previously a graduate assistant in the Graduate School who recently completed a Master’s in Education Studies through the College of Education and Human Ecology, Julie now holds a full-time support position with the Student Life Leadership and Community Engagement team.

“During her time at the Graduate School, Julie Schnell became an invaluable team member through hard work and determination. Julie has excellent communication skills, is extremely organized, is analytical and detail-oriented, is a quick learner, and works well with others. We were always able to rely on Julie to fulfill her responsibilities in a thorough and timely manner. Julie was always willing to volunteer to tackle any project, and she was deliberate and kind in the ways in which she interacted with others, especially other graduate students.” Senior Assistant Dean, Matt Page.
