Graduate Associate Teaching Award Nominations
Interim Vice Provost for Graduate Studies and
Interim Dean of the Graduate School
Nominations are now open for the 2016–17 Graduate Associate Teaching Award .
The GATA is Ohio State’s highest recognition of the exceptional teaching done by graduate students.
Each year the awards committee chooses just 10 graduate students from the thousands of GTAs doing great work in the classroom. Now is the time to recognize them for that hard work. Nominate one (or more) now. And GTAs shouldn’t wait to be nominated by someone else; if you’re a great GTA nominate yourself today. Self-nominations are welcome. The selection committee never knows how a GTA was nominated.

The BTAA-Smithsonian fellowship (formerly CIC) provides one year of support for research at Smithsonian Institution facilities in association with members of its research staff. Suicide Prevention Resources
RUOK? Buckeyes is an anonymous screening program designed to identify and help graduate and professional students at risk of suicide. The online screening provides confidential feedback on stress and depression levels, and anonymously connects students with a counselor who provides links to campus resources. According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, students who speak with a counselor online are three times more likely to participate in mental health treatment.

REACH is a 90-minute training that teaches participants about suicide risk and how to engage an individual who may be in distress. Nearly 10,000 students, staff, and faculty have already participated in this training.
Audited Hours and Erroneous Fee Authorizations
Peoplesoft 9.2 is erroneously applying fee authorizations to students who meet the enrollment requirement for GAs and fellowships with audit hours. Audited hours do not count toward the minimum number of credit hours needed to maintain GA appointments and fellowships. Please let your students know that if they choose to audit a course, it will need to be in excess of the minimum credit hour requirement for their appointment. Students who need to add a course can do so online for the second session through October 21 and with instructor and advisor permission through October 28.
