Call for Applicants: CBC Entrepreneurial Fellows Award program
The CBC Entrepreneurial Fellows Award program is a one-year, paid fellowship designed to introduce early-stage life science researchers to the process of bringing medical breakthroughs from the lab space to the commercial shelf. Fellows will be connected to researchers at UIC, Northwestern University, and University of Chicago, as well as members of the Chicago biotech startup community, and industry partners.
2024 Postdoctoral Scholar Mentor of the Year Award Nominations
Each year, this award is presented to a postdoctoral scholar who has demonstrated outstanding mentoring of junior trainees (high school, undergraduate or graduate students) and their peers (other postdocs, team members and lab staff) through leadership and support. The recipient must demonstrate exceptional leadership, communication and management skills, as well as encourage and maintain accessible, professional and supportive lab environment that enhances the mentee experience.

As you may have recently seen, the National Science Foundation (NSF) has updated the requirements for all proposals submitted or due May 20, 2024, and after, and resulting awards. This has added two new requirements (PAPPG (Chapters VII.B.7 and VII.D.1.b[iv])) that apply to graduate students and/or postdoctoral scholars who receive at least one person-month of support in any grant year (mentees).
2023-24 Sees Three Postdoctoral Scholar Mentor of the Year Award Recipients
Each year, this award is presented to a postdoctoral scholar who has demonstrated exceptional mentoring capabilities when engaging with trainees and other members of their lab group. The individual(s) who is/are chosen must demonstrate leadership, communication, and management skills, and help foster a supportive lab environment.
