In 2023 the Graduate School joined the gradSERU Consortium to participate in surveying graduate students at research institutions worldwide to provide valuable data about various topics that impact the life and education of graduate students. Below find information about the gradSERU survey as well as a portal to the most recent survey results for students at Ohio State.

The 2025 Graduate Student Experience Survey

The 2025 Graduate Student Experience Survey has concluded. Neither The Ohio State University Graduate School nor your college/program will have access to identifiable response data. We take your feedback and responses seriously so that we can enhance programs and curricula, improve student services and policies, strengthen research and scholarship opportunities, and ensure a vibrant and supportive environment for all students. 

The survey is a very comprehensive and covers topics including funding, advising, program culture, and wellness. The 2025 gradSERU survey was open from March 17 to May 10. 

 

What is gradSERU?

gradSERU, which stands for the “Graduate Student Experience in the Research University,” is the only comprehensive survey of graduate and professional students at the Ohio State University. This survey provides a powerful way for students to tell us about what’s working well, and what is working not so well, in classrooms, labs, and campus life.

The Ohio State University takes the results seriously in order to enhance programs and curricula, improve student services and policies, strengthen research and scholarship opportunities, and ensure a vibrant and supportive environment for all students.

A conversation with former CGS President Jorge Clavo Abbass

In 2023, Ohio State conducted a graduate student survey (GradSERU) to better understand and address the needs of graduate students. Jorge Clavo Abbass spoke with the Graduate School  about the survey results.

Clavo Abbass is a doctoral student in the Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures. Clavo Abbass served as president of the Council of Graduate Students and chair of the Graduate Compensation and Benefits Committee in the University Senate from 2022 to 2024 and as a graduate senator in the University Senate from 2024 to 2025.
