Elon Simms – a two-time social work graduate, Hall of Famer and world-changer extraordinaire – will serve as Mayor Andrew J. Ginther’s next chief of staff. Simms will succeed Ken Paul. The transition will occur in early 2024.

The Graduate School is happy to announce the 2023-2024 Presidential Fellowship recipients. The Presidential Fellowship is the most prestigious award given by the Graduate School to recognize the outstanding scholarly accomplishments and potential of graduate students entering the final phase of their dissertation research or terminal degree project.
Each year the Graduate School recognizes the outstanding leadership of graduate associates through the Graduate Associate Leadership Award (GALA). Read more about the award, nomination eligibility and selection criteria on the GALA page.

The Graduate School is happy to announce the 2023-2024 Alumni Grants for Graduate Research and Scholarship (AGGRS) recipients.
The AGGRS program provides small grants up to $5,000 to support the research and scholarship of doctoral or terminal master’s degree candidates for their dissertations or theses.

This research center and Nationwide Children’s Hospital are working together to create virtual reality training that will help staff calm patients.
Increasingly, graduate students are interested in using digital research methods and tools in their coursework and their theses and dissertations, and they are seeking opportunities to learn about them. This student-centered, student-directed Community of Practice (CoP) provides a forum for Arts + Humanities graduate students to mingle and learn about best practices, digital research methods, various tools and available resources.
If you are a new or returning graduate student at Ohio State, there are events planned at the beginning of the term to connect and welcome graduate students to campus. Here are some of the events planned for welcome week autumn 2023.

Stephen John Quaye, program chair for higher education and student affairs in the College of Education and Human Ecology, will begin his appointment as the Graduate School’s first associate dean for excellence in graduate and postdoctoral training on Aug. 15, 2023.
