The Graduate School's Strategic Training Grants team has established an initiative to provide financial support to faculty who are applying to extramural federal and private foundation training grant opportunities that support graduate students and postdoctoral scholars.
As you may have recently seen, the National Science Foundation (NSF) has updated the requirements for all proposals submitted or due May 20, 2024, and after, and resulting awards. This has added two new requirements (PAPPG (Chapters VII.B.7 and VII.D.1.b[iv])) that apply to graduate students and/or postdoctoral scholars who receive at least one person-month of support in any grant year (mentees).
Students Exploring Academic Research Careers in Hematology (SEARCH) is an interactive educational workshop for students to explore careers in biomedical research.
Undergraduate students, graduate students, medical students, doctoral students, and pharmacy students interested in a fulfilling medical and/or scientific career are encouraged to apply.
Each year, this award is presented to a postdoctoral scholar who has demonstrated exceptional mentoring capabilities when engaging with trainees and other members of their lab group. The individual(s) who is/are chosen must demonstrate leadership, communication, and management skills, and help foster a supportive lab environment.

The Ohio State University and Wilberforce University partnership around STEM brought together faculty and postdocs from both institutions for a multidisciplinary minisymposium, hosted March 20, 2024, on the Wilberforce campus. The Ohio State Multidisciplinary Minisymposium at Wilberforce University was made possible thanks to support from the National Science Foundation (GR133174, PI: Zakee Sabree) and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation (GR128445, PI: Zakee Sabree).
The Ohio State University Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA) and W.K. Kellogg Foundation Postdoctoral Recruitment and Onboarding Supplement (OK-PROS) program supports postdoctoral scholars recruited by Ohio State faculty by providing up to $5,000 to aid them with jump-starting their research agenda at the university and relocating to Columbus (or other Ohio State location).
